- Is Qatar the next PropTech hotspot?

We cant talk about Qatar without covering and denouncing the recent scandals around migrant workers and the ongoing western media coverage. There is no doubt serious reforms need to be put in place for migrant workers. Hopefully the World Cup has instigated these reforms.

However, despite the tragedies surrounding the country we can't discount Qatar on the PropTech world stage and so far the world cup is going ahead.

World Cup Inspiration
A recent strong commitment to sustainability has been clear for the country spurned by The world cup looming. Despite Qatar's real estate industry previously being relatively resistant to digitalization, FIFA’s 2022 stadiums are on track to receive at least a 4-star Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS).

Rating in categories such as design, construction, energy and water usage. A very good sign for The PropTech Industry. In addition CGIS  have recently signed a contract for National Data Capture and Mapping in Qatar. The project outputs include nationwide, high-resolution, orthorectified images, vector geospatial data, and 3D city model mapping. The first phase of the project will be delivered by May-June 2022, to be used by all Qatar Agencies before Qatar hosts the FIFA World Cup in November 2022.

Making inroads to big real estate companies in Qatar looks like a wise and timely move.
