- and how can PropTech help counteract the pollution?
Well there is nothing better than reading through the worldwide PropTech News to see our very own PropTech Championship feature as a news item, our winners Sally R are crowned the Champions and have bagged a new innovation contract with Skanska.
Its gone global for a very good reason there has never been a more timely winner actually!
The recent UN report released is damning in terms of climate change, air quality pollution and the need also for cities and buildings to do more.
There is an urgent need for companies like Sally R who use Space Tech to improve the quality of the air we breathe and as a bonus save Real Estate companies energy.
I interviewed Henrik from Skanska before the championship and was struck by his inspirational open minded energy and his absolute passion for innovation and the planet.
I understood fairly early on in our conversation the winner would have to have bags of inspiration and be an exciting tech proposition for the future that could develop and grow rather than just bags of money making power. Kudos.
Covid and the advent of mask wearing breathing clean air has never been more at the forefront of peoples minds. In addition to that the need to abandon fossil fuels is urgent in part due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine forcing governments to sit up and take notice as prices rise.
Elon Musk recently weighed in on the discussion saying Europe needed to up their nuclear power and restart dormant nuclear power stations. He tweeted
'hate to say it but we need to increase oil and gas output immediately. Extraordinary times demand extraordinary measures'
Is he right ?
We are making big strides in alternative greener power but we aren’t at the stage yet sadly that we can swap overnight, So in the interim what can we do? Innovative tech to help is needed more than ever to counteract the negative pollution effects.
Take a bow Sally R .
